This summer saw us take the gallery on tour to Falmouth Poly. It was the first event of its kind for us as we don't typically hold mixed shows. However, this exhibition had a different ambition - it was more of a celebration of what we do.
At the gallery, we focus on solo exhibitions of up and coming contemporary and abstract local artists. On the 27th of July of this year, we broke that tradition to celebrate all our 2021 exhibitors. The brainchild of our gallery manager, who curated the show, we sent out a request to this years exhibiting artist to provide up to three pieces for this unique curl.drips.solving exhibition.
The unusual title of the exhibition is the what3words address for the gallery in Penryn. It's quite an apt address considering what we do in the building, and if you have never used the software before, you should give it a try!
Anyway, I digress. The exhibition was themed around our timeline of painters shows for the year and started when our doors reopened in April with Fijke Middendorp and continued on to Rachel Painter, our resident artists (Dave Pentin, Lee Kellgren Derek Hayes, Rachel Kinmond, Dawn Dance), John White, Julia Rowland, Ella Carty, Helen Trevaskis and Robyn Weldon - who ends this year with her exhibition in December.
After the private view on the 26th, we opened to the public and introduced our visitors to the talented painters work we have shown or will be showing this year. It was a great success and will hopefully be repeated in St Ives or North Cornwall next year, so keep your eyes open and ears to the ground for our announcement.
All the artist's work which appeared in the curls.drips.solving exhibition still available can be purchased online until the end of the year...
