Four years - wow how did that happen!
We reopen this year (2024) with a short exhibition by one of our founders - Dave Pentin - to celebrate our fourth year selling local contemporary arts and crafts.Feeling lucky to survive not only COVID but the current economic recession we've decided to mark our anniversary with a celebration on the 28th of February to honour all our past and future artists and suppliers by raising a glass or two of the bubbly stuff. Our year ahead boasts a wide range of local artists exhibitions with primarily new artists work gracing the walls of the gallery. A photgraphy double bill
Why, why, why is photography so underrated? Yes, most of us can take a great shot on our i-phones but the average person in the street cannot create what the two masters of photography, Ross Van Nairn and Tony Hopewell have graced our walls with this month. Rarely found in galleries we have been privileged to showcase such fantastic samples of abstract photography paying homage to the unique Cornish sea and landscapes. Ross works with a variety of lenses and slow shutter speeds to create his stunning abstract seascapes of the Cornish coast. His interest in the sea began with the annual trip to...
A new year - a new emerging artist
January is typically our 'give back' month when we showcase a talent we haven't seen or heard much about. So we would like to introduce the amazingly talented oil painter Georgia Parkin Jones. Formerly a resident of North Cornwall Georgia loves to work on big canvases and within her collection Something About A River was the exceptional piece - Ebb & Flow - an Oil and charcoal painting on canvas which had been stretched over a pine measured 120 cm x 90 cm. We can't lie it was a challenge to hang but once in the window it was a real show stopper, especially on a...
A splash of festive colour
A splash of colour and some wild broad strokes enticed visitors in for our popular weekly late night shopping events in December. Of course the smell of mulled wine and home made Christmas spiced biscuits played a part too. It was a lovely end to a year of some great exhibitions. As with Helen Trevaskis in late November, Robyn Weldon had fallen victim to the retail closures at the beginning of the year. Fortunately we had a some wriggle room to change out schedule and squeeze them both in for postponed exhibitions. Helen's exhibition Haath which graced our walls from the 25th November to the...
2021 Emerging artists
With all the turbulence of 2020, we consciously left the design of our marketing literature until quite late. It now seems that our sixth sense paid off, as just as we were about to press the button to dispatch the artwork to the printers, the COVID restrictions tightened. And Cornwall was thrust into Tier 3. A full lockdown unfortunately followed, bringing with it devastating complications for our exhibiting artists. We had selected January as the perfect month to showcase the collections of three inspiring local artists who are tentatively starting to make headway as professional artists... Currently in the process of collating his portfolio for his graduation from Falmouth...
