The Shoal Ground is the third volume Des Hannigan’s Atlantic Cornwall Trilogy. The book follows the same theme of its companion volumes, The Almost Island and The Long Deep through prose pieces and occasional verses about the sea cliffs of West Cornwall and about life on the fishing grounds around the Isles of Scilly and beyond – a colourful and authentic glimpse of the world below the cliff edge and on the sometimes unforgiving Atlantic.
