Kate has been living and working in Penwith since moving to Cornwall with her family 25 years ago.

Kate studied sculpture and printmaking at Leeds University graduating in 1993 and was lucky enough to have The Yorkshire Sculpture Park as my stomping ground.
She has been a practicing artist all her life and three years ago gave up work as a full time teacher to concentrate on her own work. She has since been lucky enough to become part of the PZ Studio collective and has exhibited with them on a number of occasions. Her work has also been selected for the St Ives Society of Artists open exhibitions and Penwith Gallery Associate Members exhibitions.

Kate is an abstract painter with a fascination for colour and texture. The natural land and seascapes of Penwith provide Kate with a rich and varied source of inspiration. It's often the tiniest detail  such as rust coloured lichen on a gate, a piece of bright red driftwood on a beach, a foxglove pink swimming hat in a grey, grey sea often inform her work. Equally, conversations with strangers, sunlight on the cliffs, shadows hitting a bucket, anything and everything can make its way into a piece of work.

If Kate's not out and about on the moors or the cliffs with her 3 dogs, you'll find her working in her studio at The Exchange Gallery in Penzance.
