Minnie McNaughton is a figurative painter based in Cornwall. She is an observational artist who paints what she sees, whether it be, landscape figure or still life. She is particularly interested in working en plein air, inspired by the unique creeks and coastline of her corner of Cornwall. The Fal estuary, the Roseland peninsular and the Cornish north coast are frequent subjects, reflected throughout the seasons.

Within her landscapes she sets out to capture the character of a place, working quickly to pin down the changing moods dictated by tide and weather. ‘’I continually strive to record fleeting moments of nature – the clouds, reflections and shadows – looking for contrast in light and shapes.’’

Minnie is also a member of the Prime Women Artists - a network for practising women artists across Cornwall, whose aim it is to build an informal community for women artists, to enable creative collaboration and mutual support, to support practice development and to create opportunities to raise the profile of women in the arts in our County as well as creating opportunities to show their work together. The network now boasts over a hundred members from across Cornwall.

Colour and light are important in her work and she is faithful to the world as she sees it. This is also true of her studio work seen in her series of floral studies.
