Janie Cameron 19 FEB - 15 MAR
Exhibition: 19 February - 15 March
12:00-17:00 Wednesday - Saturday
Janie is a landscape artist who maximises the primary inspiration of the natural environment surrounding her home on the north coast of Cornwall. She works in acrylics, oils, cold wax, inks, and pens alongside a wide variety of tools, often opting for rollers, rags and palette knifes in preference to traditional brushes. She would describe herself as a sky watcher, cloud gazer and observer of light, soft, hazy, harsh, bright but always magnificent.
Her work imparts a desire to recreate the sensory experience of the moment and capturing the essence of emotions in response to conditions both internal and externally. The painting may evoke a recognition, capturing the sense of place, of our being and our spiritual relationship to the natural world.
Janie has undertaken the year long Porthmeor Programme at St Ives School of Painting, along with courses at Newlyn School of Art. Her work has been selected for various open exhibitions and she has also had exhibitions in The Salt House Gallery, The Crypt Gallery, St Ives Society of Artists and also at the School of Painting.
Janie also delivers art workshops, supporting new artists to accomplish works and ignite further interest in exploring their creativity.
She is also a member of Prime Women Artists - a network for practicing women artists across Cornwall, where she supported the development of their inaugural exhibition and hosting networking events.
