When Ryan came to visit
When Ryan came to visit
by Angela Herbert-Hodges
St. Ives frame
This is an abstracted landscape, of a rolling cloudy sky, with a headland in the distance. There is a feel of the stony beach & a slight feel of sea-water. The image was inspired by a visit of a cousin, and going to this place, which she alludes to but hasn't completely represented it, unless the viewer thinks that she has - you decide!
Angela grew up in Cumbria, spending many dreamy holidays in the Scottish Highlands. She has travelled widely, & lived and worked in London, Spain, Paris and Zimbabwe which lead to a series of work on Endangered Animals.
Now settled in Perranporth, her work is influenced by the fascinating places and interesting characters she comes across as she enjoys the distinctive Cornish landscape that surrounds her. Her work reflects an abstracted vision these connections.
Angela has exhibited extensively in the US (New York, Washington DC, Maryland, Delaware and Virginia) and has won awards in US competitions. Her work is held in private collections throughout the UK, Australia, America, and Africa.
Angela is also a member of the Prime Women Artists - a network for practising women artists across Cornwall, whose aim it is to build an informal community for women artists, to enable creative collaboration and mutual support, to support practice development and to create opportunities to raise the profile of women in the arts in our County as well as creating opportunities to show their work together. The network now boasts over a hundred members from across Cornwall.
