The Camel Estuary opens up between Rock and Padstow before reaching the sea.The Doom Bar, a sand bar extends into the estuary and is the graveyard of hundreds of ships over the centuries. The legend is that the Doom Bar was put here by a mermaid as revenge for being shot with an arrow by a local fisherman.
