We are delighted to be hosting a series of talks in association with The Writers Collective to coincide with The Falmouth Book Festival in October and have invited some of the Local Authors we stock in our little shop to give a short talk about themselves and their books as well as sign some books for you all.

The talks take place on Saturday 16th & Sunday 17th October (between 10-6 pm) and our schedule includes...

Sun 17th

11:00h Claire Duende
Claire lives near Truro and is the independently published author of The Fortunicity of Birdie Dalal depicting the tale of a young refugee woman coming to England in 1972. At the talk, Claire will explain why the plight of the Ugandan Asians inspired her to write her novel, her fascination with the role that fate and chance play in our lives, and her journey to self-publishing.
A proper Cornish maid with a rich Cornish heritage, Lamorna Ireland has taken inspiration from the beautiful county from a very young age. Whilst teaching English in a local secondary school and being a dedicated wife and mother, Lamorna has always taken joy from the written word. This April 2020, she released her debut novel, ‘Unexpected Beginnings’ – a contemporary romance set on a Cornish cider farm. It has now been followed up by her second novel - Unexpected Truths'.

14:00h  Jane Cable
Re-inventing Regency Cornwall
Truro author Jane Cable talks about the inspiration for her new Cornish Echoes dual timeline novels, set partly in the Poldark era, and how she kept tripping over Winston Graham during her research for the project.

Jane traditionally writes romance with a twist, that extra something to keep readers guessing right to the end. While her books are character-driven her inspiration is always a British setting; so far a village in Yorkshire (The Cheesemaker’s House), a Hampshire wood (The Faerie Tree), gorgeous Studland Bay in Dorset (Another You) and rural Lincolnshire (Endless Skies).

15:00h Kim Sancreed
Iain
(aka Kim Sancreed) Writer based in West Cornwall. Author of Mentoring Mr Singleman: a Cornish Romance - A funny, feel-good, Cornish Romance, with lead character Dave Singleman (a surf-dude and moderately conscientious school teacher) who at thirty knows something's missing from his life.
